Once again, you find yourself in Ergos domain. Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: I would not know how to utilize that... : Greetings Ergo! Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: ! My good Master! I hope the journey through Penumbra has been to your expectations! That is one way of putting it, yes... Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: So, how can I serve you this time? : I want to get out of this cold! What is beyond the portal behind you? Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Well, if warmth is what you are looking for, this portal will do the trick I guess. Beyond it are the Burning Marshes, the prelude to what is known as Inferno. A land of eternal flames. A home to hideous beasts of fire, champions of the Brink and the ever warring Lords, Mordeth and Galahad. : Tell me of these lands, Burning Marshes and Inferno. Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Burning Marshes are as the name implies, a bog of boiling water. It is a foul smelling and foggy, or should I say steamy, swamp. The paths are treacherous, steaming quagmires that not only swallow unlucky travelers, but boil them in the process. Inferno on the other hand is not treacherous at all. It is very much "in your face" obviously totally and thoroughly erupted into flaming hell. : Sounds interesting! At least it will be nice to get out of this numbing cold and feel ones limbs again. What do I have to do to get there? Ergo observes you for a while before he answers, as to estimate what your task would be. Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: You are entering a realm where the Brink will pose dangers at your every footstep. Before you can be allowed into Inferno, you need once more to show the cleverness and resolve necessary to withstand the constant hazard facing you from these forces. Here in Penumbra, there is one legendary beast of the Brink that will be your challenge. The Great Ice Golem. Bring me a molar from that creature and you will have proven your worth! The Great Ice Golem...Sounds like something out of a fairytale. At least it is nothing you have encountered to now in this frozen hell. But if it exists, this would certainly be the place to find it. : The Great Ice Golem you say... Where would I find that? Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Cleverness is one of the qualities I am looking for. Ergo smiles comfortingly. Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: But the truth is that even I do not know where to find it. : You dont know? In a place where you are connected to every grain of sand practiacally speaking! And I am just suposed to go out and find it! Come on, give me a hint... Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Well, as I said, I don't know where it is to be found. But in that fact there is a clue... Look in places where my presence is limited. That is my best guess at least. You have little choice but to take Ergo's word for it, that he does not know where to find The Great Ice Golem. And it is probably true, as he seems not to possess the power of lying. Even though he is very good at telling half the truth most of the time, if even that...A molar from The great Ice Golem and a Rimy Ring.At least it sounds simple. And who knows, perhaps it is... : What do you mean by "Champions of the Brink"? Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Well, I am not saying that what leads that dreadful assemblage resides in there, but you can find some real mean customers in there. Most notably there are the two dragons Razor and Xark. Truly evil beyond anything that can be considered reasonable, even for a mindless killer-force of nature. There must be something that drives them on, like they operate, something rotten, foul, alien... Ergo stops abruptly. Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: But if you keep away from the two large volcanoes in Inferno, Marum and Benbow, you will possibly manage to avoid them. : What do you think drives them on? Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Your answer, or a part of it at least, lies in and even underneath Inferno. Ergo does not look like he is going to add anything to this cryptic answer.. : Does the prase "Communion of Duat-Anu" sound familiar? If it does, it does not show on Ergo's face. But then again, he does not always react like faces of flesh and blood usually do. It may well be that somewhere inside this machine there is an isolated processing unit wondering "Where the heck did he hear about that?!!"But then again, there might not be... Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Come again? : Does the prase "Communion of Duat-Anu" sound familiar? If it does, it does not show on Ergo's face. But then again, he does not always react like faces of flesh and blood usually do. It may well be that somewhere inside this machine there is an isolated processing unit wondering "Where the heck did he hear about that?!!"But then again, there might not be... Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Come again? Perhaps it is the special relativity involving you being in one of the coldest places in the universe, but the smile Ergo sends you is definitely the warmest you have ever seen on any being. Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: I KNEW you would make it through whatever obstacles you had to overcome to find this creature and lay it to rest! Here, take this ring and use it wisely. It opens your passage to the blasted wastes of Inferno. So! Where did you find it? The Golem I mean. : If I told you, you would have to tell everyone that comes here and then your challenge would lose half its worth, right? Ergo, Penumbra Guardian of Shadows: Master , you make me proud! "Cunning" is the science of applied cleverness. A discipline you obviously master quite well. Something that will come quite handy where you are going when you use this Sanguine ring of yours. Until we meet again! : Goodbye
